The harvest begins…
Given all the different fruit trees here on the farm, we’re in a nearly perpetual state of harvest.
But there’s something different about the grape and olive harvest – it signals the beginning of the chaos that is our fall season. And we’ve just picked the first grapes of this year’s harvest.

It’s a new varietal for us – chardonnay – and we’re eager to see how it tastes! The grapes are on the piece of land we recently purchased, where we plan to put our tasting room early next year. Most of the crop is under contract to another winery, but we kept a small amount for ourselves. We’re going to try to make it in the crisp, clean style of a Chablis rather than a big, oakey California white. It should be available by next summer, so stay tuned!
Next is the Sangiovese for the rosé, followed by the Sangiovese for the red, then our “stealth” varietal (news next year, maybe), then the olives for the extra virgin oil, then the olives and lemons for the Meyer lemon olive oil.
And then (gasp) the Christmas season!
